The Secret 3

Details in a prior comic may come into play here shortly.
Man, shit be getting weird out there. This comic isn’t normally aimed at world politics, all Mosin ersatz-Russian jokes aside. But man, shit be gettin’ fucked up. Mostly about oil, I daresay.
The new 5FDP album is KICKING MY ASS.
Natural Gas mostly, and the size and relative hairiness of certain pseudo-czar’s power projection device. None of which is good *at all* given that part of the world and it’s tenancy to cause massive europe wide wars.
Ah. Things become more clear.
That find will jeopardized Russia’s energy hegemony in the region. Unless they control it. WWIII may yet happen.
Oh it gets better, here’s a bit of news the aces in the mid-stream media have seen fit to ignore:
“Russia Says It’s Building Naval Bases in Asia, Latin America”

Yay! Vlad in our backyard, I’m sure the Obama administration is right on it.
I am very much against foreign interventions nearly all the time. And the article gives reason to believe that Russia is making boasts, rather than real plans. But still:
DO NOT WANT.
Yep, and until a couple of days ago the consensus was Vlad wouldn’t intervene in the Ukraine.
Wasn’t my consensus. I was pretty sure he would. He’s *never* been happy with an independent Ukraine, and he only knows two kinds of politics: Realpolitik (Euro meaning), and Power Politics.
Machtpolitik is the other word I was searching for.
Are there any other forms of politics? Sure we like to sugar coat the politics in the West, but in general it’s the same, Russia only does it in a cruder way.
Yes, there is another form: Idealpolitik.
The United States engages in this form all the time, but we’re not the only one – not by a long shot.
And at the same time…
“Pentagon Set to Slash Military to Pre-World War II Levels”

I don’t know if anyone here is old enough to remember but this is the Jimmie Carter era all over again.
Yeah, I remember Carter’s military. What a travesty. And yeah, we’re headed right back there. It’s an old, old American tradition, and I’m only surprised it’s taken us this long to stick our heads back in the sand.
I’m old enough. Also am finding the whippersnappers who dismiss me as an out of touch Cold Warrior very irritating.
As a whippersnapper, I apologize for me peers being cunts.
I served in Jimmy Carter’s Navy and it sucked royally.
Brother!
There are no degrees here after this last storm. The city coders have decided that houses can’t be heated with wood, so I’m keeping warm with a clandestine wood stove and a cat. I have found that instead of using petroleum based starters, I can use paper towels soaked with bacon grease to start the fire. I refer to them as grease grenades. The neighbors keep coming over and wanting breakfast.
MMMMMmmmmm tasty warmth…. *drool* Wait… No bacon… ROBBED
A woodstove and a cat?
I knew witches were made of wood, but cats?
And really, how long will one cat burn, anyway? 😉
If you’ve ever played a game called Arma 2 then if (most likely when) the US (or UN, whatever they decide to call themselves) decide to move in it will seem very similar to the Single Player Campaign of it.
Except you substitute Ukraine for Chernarus.
Wars are not like computer games and USA gave strong indications that it will not get involved militarily.
The story line was what i was talking about.
I never said that war was like a computer game or that a computer game could ever get close to what war can do.
Speaking of Russians, have you heard of the Red Evlises?

They were the band at our wedding. True story.
