Back to weed.
OK, I think we can all agree that it should be legalized. Outright.
For those opposed to the idea of taxing it: the tax would only apply to commercially sold weed. Like any other sales tax. Grow your own? No tax. And lord, I have kicked the idea around that, if it’s legalized, going into business. I have experience working a farm. Marijuana grows easily – like, I dunno, a WEED. I’ll be the first in line to suckle on those delicious federal subsidies for pot farms. Hell, that’s my dream vocation – I’m not a stoner by any stretch of the imagination, but growing an easy crop that gets people high, and getting paid for it? Sign me right the fuck up for 100 acres of sweet, wonderful Marijuana farm. I’ll get acres of bud growing, and probably even live a life partaking of my own crop, by mathematical factors more than I have in the last 10 years. Sounds wonderful.
In gun news: Gosh, it’s like I DID A COMIC ABOUT THIS already.
Comment/question completely unrelated to the comic today: What time are your updates rolling out? I check up here before 8, and it’s still yesterday’s comic. Checked again shortly after 8, still yesterday’s. FTF is part of my morning routine at work!
The auto updater is broken. My mornings are usually so hectic I have no time at all to check to see if the comic updated until 9 am or so.
No biggie. Thanks for the update!
Doesn’t an employee on drugs threaten the shops FFL? Doesn’t take much for the BATFE to pull licenses.
BTW: Happy Independence Day! And thanks for all the tits. π
We may not have agreed on that dumbass Nevada rancher situation, but I agree 100% with your views on weed. I think it’s completely stupid to keep the shit illegal. People die over getting it into the country, here and abroad. The prisons are way overcrowded with first-time users, and these namby-pamby ideas about it being a gateway drug are just…fucking…wrong. I did weed in my late teens/early 20s and had no desire whatsoever to try anything else. Still don’t. Especially after being slipped some PCP in a bowl I smoked once, the last one I might add.
Legalize it, tax the shit out of it like alcohol and cigarettes, and watch the country get out of debt quicker than you can say “obamacare sucks donkey balls.”
Yeah, the politicians won’t find ANY way to spend all that extra revenue, and keep the country in whacking debt regardless.
‘Cynic’ is what an optimist calls a realist.
But… there are SO MANY cool MRAP choices for your local LEOs to buy!
I was about to ask for my five minutes back from watching the vid…then they showed the slowmo of the giant gummi bear’s head splitting open when the rifle was used to shoot it. Better then watching Peeps die in a microwave.
While that may not be the stupidest thing ever invented, it’s definitely in the running for top ten honors.
“While that may not be the stupidest thing ever invented, itβs definitely in the running for top ten honors”
Hit that nail right on the head, Fyathyrio.
I did appreciate that the video wasn’t simply a blowjob piece for the gimmick arrowhead. Can’t argue with the video. Not very hard anyways and not without at least one roll of tinfoil and a fifth of gin. I am curious to see what happens at the federal level. If the Federal gov’t ever decides to get behind weed legalization, the US military, especially at the flag level, is going to lose its collective shit. The new regulations for consumption, when/where/howmuch will boggle the joe servicemember’s mind. I predict a simultaneous loss of servicemembers who run afoul of new rules that will not quite be balanced out by a small rush of kids to join now they can smoke up in the forces.
I think national legalization will require the development of an accurate, reliable method of testing for instantaneous intoxication, much like the various BAC tests. An incentive of a 3-5 year no-competition guaranteed government procurement contract and patent protection should be sufficient to motivate development.
Then the military objections vanish in a… ummm… puff of smoke…
tax it, and the taxes only go to reducing the debt. And I get behind it myself.
If you don’t think that the pols and their advisors can figure out a way around that I have a bridge I’d like to sell you… π
For those with weak google-fu: the earlier comic about Rac-Em-Bac Bow-Mag arrowheads was at http://ftf-comics.com/?comic=and-now-an-advertisement-for-something-stupid
Enjoy your farm for the six months or year you’ll have it. After that, you’ll go under because you won’t be able to stand the competition from ADM, ConAgra, Philip Morris, and RJR Nabisco.
If pot is fully legalized, it’ll be fully corporate in short order as well.
There IS a pretty big “buy local” push in a lot of areas…
here’s the first reference, in case anyone is curious.
I live in WA. One problem I see with the legalization is that the last thing we need is even MORE Voters who are not only uninformed, but stoned on top of it.
Never have used it, 99% likelihood I never will.
@Gewing: Here’s the thing.
Most of the uninformed voters in the state are uninformed not because they’re idiots, or baked, or whatever reason of the day you want to lay at their feet, but because they have people yammering at them about how pot will become the idiot drug of the masses or whatnot.
You say you live in Washington, but you aren’t aware that pot is one of the highest cash crops of the Pacific Northwest, and that marijuana use here has been going on for nearly seventy years? Seriously, if you haven’t hiked through the Siskyous, Cascades, or Olympics and found yourself tete-a-tete with a little grow op in the backwoods, you’re not from around here.
In addition, I have known people who are quite literally the people whose technological capabilities, programming talents, and intellectual capacity have made it possible for you to bitch about uninformed Washington voters online in whatever forum you decide to do so who are daily pot smokers. The myth that marijuana stunts intellectual growth is about as valid as the one that says coffee will keep you short.
That I’m highly allergic to pot doesn’t mean it should be illegal; that I’m not likely to smoke it doesn’t mean it should be illegal; that you feel the voting population of Washington are uninformed because they tend not to vote for stupid Tim Eyman initiatives is really not relevant here at all.
In short, thank you for reminding everyone that no matter what state you live in, there’s always someone who needs a good stiff smack upside the head, regardless of their politics.
Judge not, Judgy McJudgerson.
THank you so much for judging me, Mr. Almighty. Please be careful about your threats.
I lived in Seattle for some years. I have few fond memories. Yes I know a lot of CRIMINALS have been making a lot of money on Pot for decades. Yes I know the jackasses have been boobie trapping areas in National Forests all over WA, OR, CA, and probably ID. Why on earth would I consider that a PLUS?
I actually live in the part of the state that imo is SLIGHTLY less insane. So my vote is absolutely useless.
Since the voters have started a big experiment, Now we can watch the consequences. I suspect some of the unintended ones will surprise the backers.
For many years I felt if it were controlled at least as tightly as hard alcohol was at the time in WA, legalizing it would be okay. I am not so sure now. The varieties available now are FAR more potent than any that were available when shenanigans of a rich newspaper got it outlawed…
I suppose there is now more room for research on the REALITY of its effects. Though it will still not be able to be federally funded…
