History, Part 5
Nov04
I wish I could make this strip funny, but it’s not. Unless you think a woman dying from face planting into a rainforest hill at 50 mph from 200 feet up is hilarious. I know I do
I have often felt that there’s no depth to the Omar character so far, and I had such a backstory for the dude. So now here it is!
Now get down to this!
This is all actually kind of interesting. I mean, Omar is still something of a bastard, but I guess it’s easier to see now why he got kinda jaded on relationships.
Also, three times a widower? Holy shit I think most people would have just given up hope after the second time, maybe even the first.
Not necessarily. I found out that the first reaction after the grief and loss is a really wonderful feeling of “we did it!” And a willingness to give the institution another try because of that success. Of course, I was fortunate that my marriage lasted 13 years (the first failed after 11), and the next person in line was already there.
the Otherlove, james, died december 18, 2004. two years and a week later, fallcon died on december 25th, 2006. granted, i was married at the time (we were polyamorous, the ex knew all about both james and fallcon…hell, it would have been hard to hide it since they both LIVED with us during the time right before they died!) and that slightly helped, but here it’s been seven years since fal died and it STILL rips at my heart.
but we go on anyway.
Any kind of death can be made hilarious with the right kind of presentation. Just take into consideration the body count of the Monty Python Flying Circus.
… Or any John Ringo novel. Particularly “Paladin of Shadows” series.
I still think that the best part of that series was the amusing review that birthed the ”Oh John Ringo no!” phrase.
“It seems to me most strange that men should fear; seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come.”
Thought you might like this comic on gun controll. Illustrates it pretty good. http://hsgca.net/2013/10/21/illustrated-guide-to-gun-control/
This!
So let me get this straight(from first to last)
Dolly(first)
Jen(second)
Cypress(third)
Cherry(fourth)
Cinnomon, Jasmine, Megan(in no particular order fifth, sixth, seventh)
Theresa(eigth)
Michaele(ninth)
Christine(tenth)
yet Omar says he was married eight times before marrying Christine? Wut.
Also ten wives in a lifetime? Omar is the definition of party hardy.
Damn, you’re right.
Maybe he is considering those three less than a day marriages to be a single Vegas episode.
Hell, knowing Omar they could have been a single Vegas episode.
Then he would have been married six times before Christine, unless there were even more.
God dammit Omar, stop being so sexy.
I have a new found and far more profound respect for Omar.
Wait a minute.
Dolly is Omar’s first wife, yes?
Then Jen, Cypress, Cherry . . . .
Then Cinnamon, Jasmine, Megan, Theresa, Michaela, and THEN Christine.
Isn’t that 10 ex-wives?
Ah, apparently I missed someone else pointing this out. Oops. Mea culpa.
When’s Mick gonna tell Omar about Alex and Heidi? And what’s Omar going to think?
High five, you late bloomer!
And suddenly Omar’s cynical bastardry comes into crystal clear focus and perspective. Lesson learned.
Damn. Falling in love with Omar is probably a sign you need to update your life insurance policy & will…
And insurance agents are probably busy blacklisting anyone who gets within fifty yards of him!
Omar is the Spinal Tap of marriage.

Video of a guy forging a replica of Thor’s hammer Mjolnir.
Right around the 5:45 mark the guys wearing a freak out and break shit shirt. pretty awesome.
I hate you for making this strip funny. I was all sad and having feels of empathy for Omar’s past, then you crack wise about a 200 ft faceplant off a zipline and I lose my shit. Dah you!
Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.
