History, Part 6
This one, on the other hand, was easy.
Seems the anti-gun rhetoric is ramping up yet AGAIN, in the wake of the LAX shooting. That this happened in one of the strictest gun-control states of the nation doesn’t seem to enter the minds of these reporters, columnists, and bloggers. The cognitive dissonance is retarded.
This video caught my eye, because I essentially have a clone of it, minus the heat shield. It cost me a whopping $105 to buy a used Mav88, and slap a pistol grip on it. Yes, the Mav88 is a cheapo. But I’ve fired mine many times, and it’s, well, a Mossberg. It goes bang and it’s accurate. It’s just as sturdy and does the job just as well as our 500A. Hell, most of the parts on those two are interchangeable. Yes, I do wish it had the classic 500 thumb safety, and I wish I could trade out the foregrip easily, but fuck it, the damn gun cost me $80 used, but in excellent condition. Can’t beat that for a quick, dirty home defense shotgun.
Also: HOLY FUCKING SHIT THIS GUY IS WEARING A FTF SHIRT
Skip to 5:45 to see it.
I am so glad I’m the one who got to tell you about him wearing that shirt. ๐
And it’s a ~very~ appropriate shirt for the end of that video.
He does really wicked weapons, and is up for suggestions, though I’ve no idea how he picks from the hundreds of comments he gets on each vid.
anyone else thinking “Nine rings for mortal men, doomed to die” here?
What about Dante’s 9 levels of hell? I haven’t read it but from what i gather it may apply.
Aye, Bikergeek. I also had a disgusting thought about how Omar’s “one ring” is probably NOT meant for fingers. ๐
That’s cool! I ordered 3 last month for friends that won my “Goth Chick Appreciation Day” Facebook contest. When will they arrive?
YAAAAAAAY that’s amazing!
@Bikergeek: Yup, I wanted to know about the three, the seven, and the one as soon as I read that. Glad I’m not the only one.
HAHAHAHAHAHA! Omar trolled Mick!
Oh hell, I know right where that place is! It’s just down the street, on Victory!
Wonder if they’re open to the public… I’ve never actually stopped there but I pass it all the time.
My bedroom gun is a pre-1968 (no serial #) 500, wood stock and pump and 18-1/2″ barrel. Range gun is a Mav88, 23″ barrel, full choke.
You, sir, have excellent taste in scatterguns. Mine is an old 500AT.
I admit to harboring some affection for my 88, also. (When a friend insisted he HAD to have a semiauto for his first shotgun purchase–a pump was just UNTHINKABLE–I invited him to bring it. And I would provide the clays. Thus far he hasn’t taken me up on it.)
I do love a good M’berg 500. Particularly the navalized Mariner. Watched my not-yet-wife lay a drunken Bo’sun’s Mate out with the butt of one – Two inches of motion – barely more than a flick – and sleepy-time for Mr. Drunken Arsehole! Yeah – she’s muscular. Printer, don’cha know? Carries cases of paper up and down ladders like they were toys.
The Mav88 is new to my attention, but seems worth a look based on what all y’all are sayin’.
Does this make Omar… Odin? 9 rings, has a lot of hidden wisdom, doesn’t mind being hung from a- well, nevermind.
No, he has two eyes. Two beady, creepy black eyes. Also no ravens. ๐
So write him and ask him. ๐
The guy. With the shirt.
