Lime Beer
Jan24
Having literally asked thousands of people, I don’t know ANYONE who likes lime-flavored beers. Why are they still being manufactured?
Now ain’t that some shit? I don’t know if this is an honest case of polical dissent, or the end of a very sneaky chess move by the Democrats. Couldn’t tell you either way.
My friend Suzanne loves them. She might personally be holding up the entire market.
I agree. Lime-beer is gross. I’m manly enough to admit some fruit-brewed beers are drinkable. But not the lime.
Also, don’t fruit the beer. Even when I ask nicely, some places still insist on adding that wedge to my beer. No. If I specifically order it “michelada”, then lime/sauce is what I wanted. If you want to fruit a Corona Light, fine. But not my Bohemia. No. Not to my precious. Bohemia.
michelada: scroll down to the bottom.

Are we supposed to understand that this is the first time she’s shot since she detoxed?
It took me a bit to figure out, but mostly because I’m not used to looking at a target and gauging the quality of someone’s shooting. When I realized she was worse and depressed about it the rest kinda fell into place.
I like miller chill. It’s been a long time since I bought any, and I’m not a big fan of beer. I guess I liked that it masks that damn hops taste while not tasting sugery.
I apparently didn’t realize it last time… but I just did… The 22 Whisperer is her father!
The plot, it thickens! 🙂
The only fruit beers I like are a) ones that are subtle, just those hints of fruit taste in a strong wheat beer or b) the belgian lambics. The best fruity beer I’ve ever tasted was one I was involved in the brewing of. It was an IPA and we dumped a bunch of blueberries we picked in a swamp in on the secondary fermentation. It was a bit of a risk. We cleaned the berries but didn’t cook them to eliminate any potential wild yeast strains that could have severely messed up our beer. Though I’ve spoiled the ending already, it was fantastic.
The same Rolling Stone article that forced General Stanley McChrystal to retire also said his favorite beer was Bud Light Lime, but there was speculation at the time that that was his inept ploy to seem like more of a man of the people.
I’ve had a few “lime” in beer drinks; mostly my Mexican-American friends drink the stuff like it water and then go to To-Kill-ya (Tequila) afterwards. I’ve never understood that they liked it…. I’ve drank a few lime beers in South America that tasted way better.
With the economic depression (let’s call it what it is) and personal job loss and all, I haven’t gotten to the range nearly as often as I’d like for the last few years, and it shows every time I do. It sucks and I can totally relate to her on that. But, we’ve added more rimfires to the stable and that’s helped a bunch. The only problem is that when you practice and practice and practice with a heavy .22 and then you go to your centerfire for a bit, the recoil can be quite startling. LOL! I can’t remember the last time I had any significant time shooting my M29. For what a box of .44 Mag costs, I can get a hand full of arrows that will give me exponentially more trigger time on my compound bow. Not as fun, but similar skill set. Also, lime beer sucks monkey balls.
She could always switch to an AK. It’s not a tack driver, and it’s not supposed to be, it’s supposed to put lots of holes in whoever you’re shooting at. Everybody else can brag about covering their shot pattern with a quarter or whatever, I can say I can cover my shots with a dinner plate and brag, “More holes for them to bleed out of!”
She could, sure, but you have to keep in mind that she had a very promising future ahead of her because of her incredible precision. Realizing that she lost both that opportunity and the skill she used to get it is probably gonna hurt for a while.
Shandy fails to suck; I make fresh squeezed lemon-limeade and mix it with Lord Chesterfield Ale. The result is delicious. That’s not the same as “lime flavored beer”.
Fancy meeting you here! Let’s see if we can drag Forgal over };-D>
Personal demons aside, so what if her aim and technique are off after a long hiatus from shooting. BFD. That’s what range time is for, to work on breath control, trigger control, stock/frame weld and all the other basics that make a good shooter. And maybe she ought to have, oh I don’t know…. ZEROED THE EFFING GUN FIRST?
… …Damn it, I’m yelling at fictional characters again.
I got the impression – which may be totally off-base – that she believes her addiction and/or accident caused a permanent loss of skill (like nerve damage keeping her from holding her arm steady). That doesn’t mean she isn’t just rusty, and I definitely think she gave up too easily, but I think she suspected this would happen and this is confirming something she already believed.
That being said, I love how quickly she transitioned to mocking her dad’s terrible beer. I get the impression she’ll be OK.
Guys, have you considered it may not be the drugs, but instead, her motorcycle accident?

I think Alex needs to watch this… 😉
It’s not so much that she’s rusty – it’s like, you worked hard to lose 50 lbs, only to gain it all back. You know you can lose it again, but facing going through the hard work all over again when you had it in the palm of your hand and squandered it…. it’s heartbreaking and sometimes you wonder if it’s worth it. Alex knows what she threw away, and is wondering if it’s even worth trying to get it all back when it’s far easier to fade into the video game where she’s still sharp.
Just my two cents.
who the hell would want lime in their beer?
thats about as bad as light beer.
my girlfriend seems to love those lime flavored beers. I think they taste like crap but she knocks them back like a teenage girl with wine coolers.
Interesting to see where you’re going with this. Is it the drugs or the lack of practice making her a bad shot?
Lack of practice is fixable. The drugs… I don’t know. Depends on how realistic you’re going to be. I have family members (who are 7 and over 15 yrs clean now) who are STILL seriously fucked up from their addictions. The consequences thing- that’s something they talk about all the time. (it also is a motivator to stay clean. I’m glad for that aspect of it, at least.)
