Yeah, okay, had to do this one. Too soon? Fuck ya.
Happy Memorial day, and lest you forget what this day was traditionally about, it started as Decoration Day, a day to remember all of those who fell on both sides of the American Civil War.
You could say it started as the real life version of… Unification Day.
Seems your coat’s kind of a brownish color, Mr Grant.
Too soon? Heck the gun grabbers don’t even wait for the bodies to cool.
And the rabidly pro-gun crowd (which I don’t think describes anyone here – I’m talking about the fruit loops out on the fringe), didn’t wait before calling it a false flag op by the government, either.
I’m still waiting to hear about what psychological mood-alterers we’re looking at blaming this time.
There’s no other color it should be. 😀
Shouldn’t the coat be red and the pants brown?
The hand-wringing, panty-wadding, gun safety blovation industry is in full swing here in SoCali. Mom’s have already demanded action – the Brady Bunch is pumping misleading statistics into the unquestioning maw of the media.
The knifeman got what he wanted – public exposure, notoriety, sympathy, understanding and caring. And all this attention make the next mass killing all the more likely.
And the flipside is that some will claim a “good guy with a gun” could have stopped it. I don’t know if anything could have been done to prevent this, but do not pretend there aren’t those on both fringes that will use any tragedy to push their agenda.
Good guys with a gun DID stop it: the police cornered the bastard and he blew his lights out. Unfortunately, many minutes too late. There might not have been a CCW holder present in a college town hangout — but the possibility might just have put a serious hitch in the freak’s planning.
There might not have been a CCW holder present in a college town hangout
Particularly since, you know, California.
Remember the shooting in Tuscan in 2011, where (among others) Giffords was shot? A “good guy with a gun” almost shot ANOTHER “good guy”, mistaking him for the shooter. THAT’S where the problem of untrained people in active shooter scenarios comes in.
Except the CCW realized he didn’t fully know what was going on and kept his gun holstered and didn’t accidently shoot anyone. So it actually doesn’t look like there was a problem at all.
“Almost shot” and “left his gun in the holster” don’t exactly match up. And as for shooting the wrong person, cops are 5x more likely than permit carriers, to do so.
This may have something to do with the fact that a permit carrier will go to prison for it, while a cop will spend some time on administrative leave. (For the record, I’m actually not complaining about this disparity in this case. At least some of the accidental shootings will happen because cops must go into ambiguous situations that private citizens can and should stay out of.)
Why is it we always wind up in an Alliance-friendly bar on U Day?
Proper Prior Planning, of course…
They say you should never hit a man with a closed fist, but at times, it is, in fact, hilarious.
Dang it, my other comment wasn’t supposed to be in reply to J.C…. Oh well
Network execs need to all die slow, agonizing deaths. #Deadwood
You know what chaps my arse about this whole SoCal situation? The little douchenozzle was tooling around in high priced clothes, driving a high priced car, going to a good college…and he was a cunt. Boo hoo, you can’t get laid! Stop buying guns and drop a grand for an hour with a top shelf escort you fucking jackwagon! People don’t want to kiss you because you walk around and flaunt your position and possessions so much that they can see what a waste of space you are without looking too hard. And if you’re stupid enough to not rent-a-ho, then you’re obviously too stupid to give a girl some beer-goggles for a pity fuck.
Kid had fame on speed dial and decides to play woe-is-me, and now you…and you…and BANG BANG BANG…Fuck that noise. I grew up rough, the very opposite of this guy, but I have been in the company of some of the most gorgeous women, you know-the kind that make you question why the hell they’re not recoiling in horror that they’re even touching you because they’re such a level above you-because I am absolutely genuine about who I am and what I’ve got as well as what I’ve got to offer. If someone thinks that $300 glasses are going to get them anything more than pitied or played then it’s time to re-evaluate, not go all HBO on real people.
I should start counseling little shits like this. I’ll lock them into a small room; Me, them, a bat, a stool, an industrial stapler and a stopwatch. All I need is 120 seconds; I’d hang that little shit from the ceiling by his eye lids and then beat his balls until he blinked. Problem. Fucking. Solved.
You might want to start the counseling with his parents. Obviously they knew he wasn’t right but let him out in the world. “Oh, he’ll be ok once he gets out on his own!” I’ll bring the reloads for the staple gun.
I completely agree. In most of these cases the parents are apologists or deniers and deserve the same punishment as their wayward crotch fruits. The thing that really upsets me most about situations like this is that I have to look at my 7 year old and lie to myself that his chances of being one of the bystanders is so low that I can be free of worry once he’s out in the world.
Actually, they contacted the Santa Barbara / Isla Vista police, because they were concerned….
And the police didn’t seem to do anything.
What, exactly, should the police do?
No, hey, good observation. Police are generally useless against things like this… But that beings up the next progression: Who DOES stop these sorts of things, and can they be stopped before they get to rolling?
Well, yeah, that’s the thing. Cops don’t and can’t prevent crime. All they can do is respond to it, and by then, it’s kind of too late.
I think I hear more about OFF DUTY cops dealing with these things. And we know why they’re special, right? Because GUN FREE ZONES DON’T APPLY TO THEM. 😛
“special” class of citizen, donchaknow?
Yeah, clearly daddy taught “it’s never my fault” in spades.
Off topic: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O3HCXh9WQSo “The struggle” by scroobius. Interesting. I’ll be checking his full album.
I was shocked the media (today show) was showing clips of his last video. Not the best way to stop others from being copycats.
IMHO i think we should never give out the name of murders, and just call them by numbers use the file your own FFIA if you want their names. Stop giving them publicity
I wholeheartedly agree, and have been preaching this for a while. Stop making murder/suicide an instant ticket to fame (or at least infamy) and you’ll have fewer troubled souls choosing it. On a related note, I almost always refer to spree killers by their actions, not their names; yes, I know the names of the Columbine, VT, and Sandy Hook shooters from memory, but fuck them—they’d be buried in unmarked graves and wiped off the record books if I had a say in it.
Too bad that the people who would have to voluntarily make this choice—the media—are not known for picking ethics over ratings, and that reporting a name when your competitors haven’t is currently viewed as a scoop.
The only thing scarier looking than your rendition of Biteme is the actual item.
Just sayin. . .
Out of curiousity I managed to find another country which has similar, if possibly slightly more Lax laws than America in regards to firearms.
It’s the Czech republic. Link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gun_politics_in_the_Czech_Republic
I know Wikipedia isn’t the best source but i don’t know Czech or trust google translate to get it all right.
Guess what their death rate is per 100000?
0.8.
Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate
(yes I know i’m using wikipedia again…)
Kinda interesting to me. Especially as the Aussie murder rate is 1.0 and we have some of the strictest laws outside of complete confiscation. And the UK is sitting at 1.2.
Another site for backing up such numbers: http://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/cause-of-death/violence/by-country/
Austria 0.5 (and they’ve got signs up in some places that say: “Wildlife protection area. Dogs and cats off the lead will be shot.”)
Switzerland 0.7 (and doesn’t every able-bodied man in the coutnry have a rifle just in case, or something?)
UK 1.1 (where you need a licence for anything more dangerous than bad language and can be arrested for using that!)
Slovakia 1.3
Czech Republic 1.4
Viet Nam 1.6
Afghanistan 2.8
Iraq 2.8
Syria 2.8 (How the heck do they get reliable numbers for those three?)
Israel 4.6 (Define “Israel” ffs)
United States 6.5
Gambia 12.9 (USA rate x2)
Russia 16.2
Burundi 25.9 (USA rate x4)
Congo 38.9 (USA rate x6)
Jamaica 52.9 (USA rate x8)
Guatemala 74.9 (Fucking scary)
Slovakia too, has rather easy going gun laws, I think it’s the only EU country that still has some legal automatic weapons in private hands. EU is not happy with it.
Nope I think you mean Czech Republic. I have looked into this since I visited Czech Republic a few years ago. You do need a special license to get fully auto guns but target shooting is a good reason so it is definitely easier to get fully auto stuff in Czech Republic rather than America. There are actually a few countries in Europe that allow fully auto firearms mainly for collectors.
Ah Memorial Day. (I know I’m a bit late.) My family, in Pennsylvania, I’m pretty sure had family that fought on both sides of the war. So we display a U.S. flag alongside a Confederate flag. No, not the Southern Cross, or the battle flag. We fly a Confederate national flag.
…which one?
(My car has a First National flag sticker on it. I figure only history buffs will know it by sight and it doesn’t get the kneejerk reactions the Duke Boys’ versions do.)
I made a fool of myself.
Happens to the best of us.
