Getaway
What, you thought she was going to buy a gun, date Mick, and run away happily ever with him? That’s no fun. Come on, I have to keep you coming back. And feeling sorry for this schmuck.
The sign in the background is for a later storyline. Nothing against Ron Paul, per se, but I have yet to meet a gun shop worker that hasn’t heard enough about Ron Paul.
I’ll take this moment to pimp my favorite gun shop, the Cash America Pawn at 12920 Midway Road, Dallas, TX 75244. So many guns flow through there, I never know what I’m going to find when I walk in. Bought 6 guns there over the last 3 years, all of them good.
I don’t feel terribly opinionated either way, but in the New vs. Used argument, I’ve never had a used gun purchase go bad on me. If you know how to inspect a gun before purchase, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with going for used and picking a gun up for two thirds, or even half off the MSRP. Hell, I picked up my Mossberg Mav 88 for $80, in like-new condition. Mel’s Moss 500a was $200, which is about $175 off. I could go on. The fun part of pawn shop buying is you never know WHAT they’ll have.
This video is cringeworthy. I’ve crescented myself once with a scoped 30.06, when I was 16. Taught me to ALWAYS keep a good, proper grip on a firearm. What I usually tell new shooters is: this weapon is like a chainsaw. If you keep a good grip on it, and use it right, you won’t hurt yourself. But if you act like a moron, and don’t control the weapon… well…
Holy shit. I was cringing when watching that. These people don’t seem to know how to hold a gun. I’ll admit, first time I fired a shotgun, this happened, but that’s because I accidently fired both barrels at once. Pulled the wrong goddamn trigger. Thing kicked like a bastard, and ended up facing the sky. I did not, however, land on my ass, or get hit in the face.
My stance on new vs. used? Well I can’t really afford new so I keep with the used, mainly military surplus stuff. I’ve got K98’s, Mosins, K31’s, some old blackpowder… Never had an issue with any of them except for maybe having to buy a new spring here and there. While back I decided to treat myself to a new gun. My 91/30 Mosin with PU Scope just wasn’t cutting it for the 500-600 yard competitions I was finding myself in. Still managed to come in 15th at a 600 yard, 5 shot group, out of 120 people, but I knew I could do better.
So, did some research, went into the gun store to buy a M14 or a decent R700 I could tinker with. Ended up leaving with a Savage 110 BA in .338 Lapua :/
First new gun purchase, I was excited to say the least, until I got it to the range for test fire. Had to knock the bolt with a block of wood to extract each spent round. Tried 4 different brands of ammo, all with the same results. Went from Hornady to Prvi all the way up to Lapua ammo. Made me realize my first regret of the gun besides the extraction, ammo cost.
It’s on my gun rack now. Some burrs removed and chamber polishing after I sent it back to Savage. Just got a new Vortex PST 6×24 scope to put on it, soon as the rings come I’ll be able to see if she’s fixed or not. I’m praying it is. If not, she’s going back, getting my money back and going to build an M40a3 or M24.
I was fifteen when my dad let me fire his 30.06 for the first time. I must have weighed 110 pounds soaking wet back then. Damn thing left a bruise from mid chest to elbow.
I know a few people who work in gun stores, and I’m working on becoming a Gunsmith myself, and despite that we’re all Australians, we all STILL hear about Ron Paul on a regular basis. He’s not even a politician in our bloody country, and we have to put up with that bollocks.
