Heidi’s plea

And here’s where letting the characters take over made for me arguing with them. In my head.
Mick? Mick is a dumbass. I can see where both of them are coming from here, but I still think Mick is a fucking dumbass.
Soundtrack.

Oh, yeah. Here’s where “Obey the Boobs” makes a come-back.
I’m getting a 403 error when trying to go back to yesterday’s comic.
Not no more you ain’t. 🙂
Thanks!
I can understand where she’s coming from, but the current GF should’ve been brought in on this. If she knows, or even comes with him, then there is no question of going too far and no lingering question of what does or does not happen that night. If she needs his presence for her peace of mind, he has the right to bring in his GF for his own (future) peace of mind. Given her own past, she might have had some good insight into the situation.
Ayup… “Let me call my girlfriend and see if she wants to come over too. She’s a better shot than me.” 🙂
Bow-chikka-wow-wow.
That’s actually an awesome argument. Very eloquently communicates on two levels.
I still think he’d be smarter inviting Joe than Alex, but either one would be a better idea than what he appears to be doing. Oh well, it wouldn’t be much of a story if the main character always did the smartest thing and thus avoided drama.
Incidentally, it just occurred to me that right about now, Mick could stand to have a camera in the room so that he could prove to Alex that nothing happened.
Just so.
Chances are, it’s all cool – But you don’t take chances with your relationship unless you’re *done* with your relationship.
Mick is indeed a relationship dumbass.
Is the ‘current’ serious enough to be a girlfriend? Yet? Yes, I’m looking at it from a guy’s perspective – its not a relationship until WE’VE decided its a relationship. No one sided decision without notifying the other party. And I don’t remember anything like that conversation coming up yet. Casual sex (with serious overtones to make sure something doesn’t screw up a possible future), but not a steady relationship yet.
No girlfriend? Then he makes his own decisions.
So far, you’re the only one I think who gets close to my thoughts on it.
I was thinking the same thing, actually. The only conversation that’s come up so far has been, basically, “Let’s not move too quick.” To me that sounds as if it’s still casual. And who knows what Alex is doing on her own? Oh, right, she’s making out with other girls and going to play parties. While what Mick is doing is probably not the smartest thing ever with Heidi right now, I don’t think he needs to check in with Alex. And I get the feeling that if he DID, Alex’s response would be along the lines of “You’re a fucking idiot” and maybe adding “You don’t need my permission to fuck other people, dude”.
If you’re bagging a girl on a regular basis, it’s a relationship. In her eyes, if not yours. Tread carefully.
But then, you’re a guy. Not sure any of us understand how women think about these things.
And then Alex gave him her whole tale of relationship woe and damage, and how he’s the first one she’s let get close since.
You listened to Mick telling you how he’d act. Now listen to Alex. I bet it’s—complicated.
Thanks for fixing this.
Can I slap him? Please?
One word: DUMB-ASS.
Dittos on calling Alex in on this.
Heh… I have to agree with the posters above, amusingly enough. Call Alex, keep her in the loop, ’cause when she learns about it after the fact she’ll have to wonder why Mick was “hiding it” by not keeping her informed. Better to be 100% straight and upfront on these things, or drama will ensue.
No guarantee drama won’t insue, but it’s better to have ALL of the cards on the table from the get go…
Got to say this whole string/arc about Heidi shooting someone in self defense was very well played, you made it comical enough to keep it light, yet you didn’t brush of the seriousness of the actions portrayed. Yesterdays “punchline” about the mental, emotional, and physical toll an attack and use of force event can and often does have on an individual was perfect and as your comment/description said it isn’t easy to take another and walk away with no emotional baggage. In civilian life I haven’t had to defend myself or another with a weapon, hopefully I don’t, as I personally know and understand how tough the aftermath can be even in a war zone. But it is better to have the physical ability and never need it than it is to need it and never have it…
Also as several others have said, Mick is a dumb ass if he stays without calling and inviting over Alex. She has first hand experience with the physical abuse side, aftermath psychological effects of a traumatic event, is a much better shot, and can keep Heidi in check overnight.
For heaven’s sake at least call Alex. You are killin’ me here, Mick. Are you blind or just a dumbass? If Heidi can’t sleep there, Heidi needs to get a room elsewhere and make arrangements to move! I still don’t think you have learned the depths of her manipulative and underhanded nature. You need to consult Alex immediately. Oddly enough, She’s the voice of reason and reality in this strip…
Grant, this comic is the greatest thing on the interwebs. I look forward to it daily, and get all messed up over situations such as this one. If ypu aren’t careful, your little soap opera here will win you the internet. :p
For the sake of accuracy, I feel the need to point out that she’s already in “a room elsewhere”; she’s staying at a motel while her condo is cleaned. Psychological trauma doesn’t really care about details like “nobody knows where you are and the guy that hurt you is dead anyway”.
bah humbug 🙂
God, tomorrow’s strip…. heheheheheheheheheeh
I hope Mick’s second layer of clothing involves a tactical chastity belt.
Check the mouse over text.
Yes he is.
Has he never heard of drugs he might suggest?
And what about the next night, and the next? Heidi’s gotta get a handle on this herself. Has she got any long-haul remedy in mind (as if that isn’t obvious)?
^Not So Dumbass Things Mick Might Have Said. ^
Oh man. Mick better call Alex, or she’s gonna kill him.
Even worse, it would be “just peachy* for Alex to drive by, see Mick’s car at a motel/hotel, and find the room…with Heidi in it.
Mick is a dumb-ass, par none.
It’s just possible Mick’s going to get outside, then call Alex, because what he wants to say is “Help! save me!” and it’s a lot easier to do that when Heidi’s not there.
Don’t count on it. He’s not thinking that clearly.
Something no one else has mentioned… Pics deleted or not, once on the Internet, *always* on the Internet. Those pictures will NEVER go away completely.
Deleting them is almost entirely pointless, save as a gesture.
This has absolutely been mentioned. MountainSquid said that all the way back on May 30th, and Ro noted the same thing August 28th.
Ah. Missed those.
Thank you for the backstop.
Mick: CALL YOUR GIRLFRIEND! TELL HER WHAT IS GOING ON!!
Hell, ask her to help babysit. She’ll keep Heidi in line…
Dude went to his ex-girlfriend’s house with an overnight bag in his trunk.
I’m sure Alex will understand that this was a complete accident that he didn’t see coming at all….
Agreed, that Mick is a dumbass. He’s clearly facing a near occasion of sin. Such situations should be avoided. Heidi’s issues are her own. Mick isn’t responsible for them, and he is acting very imprudently by staying.
Sex is ALWAYS serious. Barring gonadectomy or very rare reproductive dysfunctions, sex has the potential to make babies. Mick and Alex may not have seriously considered the fallout from that potential eventuality, but the chance exists.
