The Big Meeting 2
Apr21
Don’t we all have a nightmare of all our lovers, past and present, talking to each other? Lord knows I do. Like a big lynch mob of people who want to discuss how much of a failure you are.
I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: Justice Scalia is a god damned anarchist. I think he WANTS to see the world burn. Mostly because, like yours truly, he’s a dick.
“It doesn’t matter. I’m the king of foreplay.” 😀
Bazinga!
(Yes, some of us understand the reference…)
I wish Combichrist would play Boston….
Being poly ourselves, this has provided some amusing entertainment, watching friends flabbergasted that the ladies comparing notes on me AREN’T angry at me or each other. It can cause some concern when I can’t hear them, then they pause, look at me, giggle, then go back to talking.
Jah, Nightmare scenario, there …
You mean anarchist in the good sense or the bad sense? Cause honestly, when it comes to taxation, it is revolting state of affairs and we need a good revolt in that area. My high school American history teacher was a Brit, and he once quipped, “Your country revolted over taxes, and look where you are now.”
I was wondering the same thing. I don’t disagree with the statement.
We pay among the lowest taxes in the industrialized world. Certainly lower than the UK.
Some people just want to watch the world burn. Others, like Arthur Harris and Curtis LeMay, are satisfied with burninating just some chunks of it.
I’m just gonna throw this out there about Scalia: Have you considered he actually cares about the Constitution? He was in the majority on Heller and McDonald, (Hell, he wrote the opinion for Heller) and was the Dissent on Hamdi v. Rumsfeld? All three cases are about constitutional guarantees. (In Hamdi, the petitioner was alleging that the writ of habeas corpus was not suspended, and he had a constitutional rights as a citizen. Scalia’s dissent was not that the petitioner had no rights, but that the President’s course of action was to either suspend habeas corpus with the consent of Congress, or release him.) I wouldn’t consider him anything close to an anarchist. If anything, I’d think he sees the need for a strengthening of the separation of powers from what it is currently and an end to the interpretation of the Constitution in “modern” terms.
What Scalia is saying is nothing more than a watered-down version of what Jefferson said in several instances, and Jefferson was no anarchist.
I think Scalia is just playing both sides of the fence. He doesn’t actually want a revolt, he’ll lose his job and way of life. He just doesn’t want the angry mobs to come after him if they do rise up.
I’ll note that Alex said NOTHING abuot knowingly being recorded having sex…
I’ve tried very hard to not be an asshole to my lovers, though of course I’ve failed at times. If my lovers get together, I expect to survive the event with only a mild roasting – And I expect to return fire.
“Justice Scalia is a god damned anarchist”
And we need eight more just like him
I think eight more would be refreshing. He had some interesting things to say.
Also an anarchist want there to be no rules or laws, and a nihilist wants to watch the world burn.
Anarchy can work reasonably well for a short time, like standing in line for tickets, or a weekend burn. After about 72 hours though, people want some guidelines.
Anarchy is less about ‘no rules or law’ and more about ‘everyone take responsibility for one’s own actions.’ I see it a lot at the firing range; lots of responsibility being taken and exhibited, no one specifically in charge.
Specifically, it’s no RULERS.
There will always be rules, just in the sense of conventions… Like: nobody consciously decided this conversation would be in English, but we managed to agree on it. 🙂
I wanted to let you know that I finished reading your archive on Friday and have spent the whole weekend with moments of “Where did I put that cool book I was reading…?” and then I would realize that I was thinking about your comic.
and… that has happened to me. I have had group of about 10 friends on my front porch… 9 of which I had slept with… and they did the math and figured that little fun fact out. Fortunately I’m pretty friendly with my ex-Lovers and the ones that I wasn’t friends with are dead. I was out of the state at the time. Honest.
So, wait. Is nobody going to comment on Alex’s shirt change?
Only pedantic assholes who have nothing better to do than nitpick. 😛
Fair enough! 😉
I think Scalia’s view on the Consitution is a very healthy attitude to have. After all no taxation without representation.
