This reaction is effectively what a friend of mine had, after the first (and only) time I had her try a 20 gauge. Some people can handle the recoil – some cannot. Find the weapon that works right for you.
All of that said, I do like to disabuse people of the myth that “you cannot miss with a shotgun.” This is patently bullshit. I refer to an earlier blog post of mine from years ago, where I showed, outright, that you can miss with buckshot. I loved that shotgun, indeed – a Winchester 1300 in 20 ga, and I owned it for a couple years before selling it to a friend who needed a good firearm. Mostly because I needed the money to get a Mossberg 12 ga.
I will be using real pics, albeit artistically modified, whenever I can in this comic. Panel #1 in this is the first time I helped a friend try out my .40 cal. Panel #2 is from the first time I took the Winchester 1300 to the range.
Remember, kids, it’s not the Fed Gov that will infringe on your 2nd Amendment rights – it’s local government.
Meanwhile, shit like this… and shit like this… I don’t even know, man. I don’t even.
More October Pumpkin fun!
I don’t know if I’d want an aslut shotgun. It may give you diseases.
The spelling and grammar in that armslist posts makes me think the guy saved up all his McDonalds work money to buy it.
Yabbut “AssHalt shotgun?” Bloody marvelous! You know it wasn’t intentional which only makes it more precious.
Ahh, local government- where everything’s a problem when the solution closes a budget hole, including education and people’s rights.
I have to snicker when I see people griping about the kick from a 20ga. Then I sweetly ask if they’d like to try my shortened 10ga, affectionately known amongst our friends as “The Fuckstick.” (Because the reaction the first time someone fires it is universally: *BLAM* “FFFFFUUUUUUCK!” *gripping shoulder*)
“What would Jesus fire?” Maybe a peacemaker or a nail gun?…
Jesus wouldn’t fire.
He’d have St Paul do it. And you know ol’ Paul (Patron Saint of Mall Ninjas) would be sportin’ some mighty capable hardware.
Just discovered the comic. Loving it. I think Jesus would go with an Israeli made weapon. The old Jericho M941 in .40 S&W with +P JHPs in a semi-compact frame would fit well for concealed carry in his robe. As for something a bit bigger, an IMI Galil chambered in 7.62mm. Old rifle, but reliable. Never lets you down. A Shepherd of Men, if you will. 🙂
There’s also too many people who think you can hit with a shotgun by shooting from the hip. It has been my experience that a shotgun has one thing in common with a rifle: It must be aimed to be most effective.
Sooooo many times they don’t have the stock firmly against the shoulder, or holding it snugly…it slips back with recoil, jarring all the bones and muscles etc.
WHAM!
LOL, that’ll learn ’em.
