Not an exact analogue of this, but a long time ago, I was part of a restaurant that had a “grand reopening” after a kitchen fire that required some pretty massive repair. The restaurant was famous for its Chicken Fried Steak (and rightfully so, that shit was delicious).

The head cook completely forgot to reorder one thing for the grand reopening. Can you guess what it was? Yup.

Many unhappy customers for the next few days. The restaurant eventually failed due to this kind of bullshit. (My favorite, near the end, was when we had a prime rib brunch, and ended up with no prime rib at all.)

Ah, food service. How I don’t miss it whatsoever.
