Mick’s backstory
Apr10
I’d point out that the high school he went to is about two blocks from our house. As is the playground in the first panel. Keepin’ it real, yo.
No, neither of us went to W.T. White. Mel grew up in Northern Cali, I grew up SoCal. We did meet out here, though, and we both fucking love Dallas.
This video kicked my ass.
that girl was fantastic, and pro-gun people came out in swarms to every rally, yet our local politicians voted against the will of the people.
there will be quite a few politicians without jobs come primaries.
Smart, clear headed, logical thinking, bright girl.
I was in the gallery for that. The real shame is that the only legislators who actually listened to the girl were already on our side. The others paid absolutely no attention to her as she was speaking, and some of them were blatantly obvious about it, IMO. Sad really.
The true flaw of debating; everyone’s too busy wondering why the other side aren’t smart enough to see things their way to actually pay attention and weigh the merits of the argument.
Excellent summary of why I not only oppose the ‘new’ gun-control scams being judas-goated by the liberals now but also support banning ALL gun control scams in the USA, resetting our firearms law concepts to those of 1865!
Why should the pro gun-control folks pay attention? Their focus is on control, and removing guns from the American citizen is needed before control can be achieved. Their arguments are not meant to stand up to logic and facts, just to obscure their true intent.
Three words. LONE. STAR. COLLEGE.
Since Dylan Quick stabbed 14 people today on a college campus, I have decided I am for Knife Control. Also I am for safety lessons on how to use a knife properly. I think Sunday Lunch Butter Knifes should be kept out of the hands of criminals, by registration and no one should have more than two in their kitchen drawer. Convicted Felonious Criminals, even one for driving offenses, have no need for knifes and should lose their right to have one in their kitchen. Knives are not even protected in the US Constitution, so obviously their use and availability should be restricted and controlled. 14 Innocent people scarred for life, come on America, ban the knife.
Look, I just think we need common sense knife control. If you want a knife for your kitchen or hunting, that’s fine, but none of these scary black knives with ergonomic grips or overall lengths longer than 10″. Nobody needs that. And if you want a knife for protection, just go get a steak knife and wave it in the air to scare off a burglar.
Just make sure that steak knife is one of those with a rounded tip. Otherwise you might accidentally hurt yourself.
I have knives longer than 10″ in my kitchen, and whether I need knives that large or not is nobody’s damned business or decision but mine.
The same thing is true for the katana which sleeps beside my bed, and the other katana which sits betwixt my drawing table and computer desk.
Seriously, waving a steak knife in the air isn’t going to even intimidate, let alone stop a thug who’s kicked down your door.
Spend some money getting a GOOD katana, or european blade if that’s your preference, and spend some time at the dojo, learning how to use it.
Why do I need a knife or a sword? Why do you need to know?. Why I should have one? Who are you to ask about the decisions I make regarding my defense of my family and myself? No one has any right to ask, especially when the court says the police have no obligation to protect me.
This poster is obviously a shill for the National Knife Association. She’s willing to sell the lives of our children so that she can keep these horrible objects with no purpose other than to kill. Undoubtedly this is because of fundamental mental or emotional problems.
Any thinking person knows that we need to be rid of these assault knives with such dangerous features as scabbards and hand guards. Despite this, the NKA continues to throw their money around to stop laws that the majority of Americans, and even many of their own members, support! I’ve never used a knife myself, but my wife’s cousin uses one to cut his steak and he agrees that nobody needs assault knives.
Stop the knife lobby. Stop the deaths of our children. Pass responsible knife control legislation now.
(Good gods, how do people actually take themselves seriously when they say stuff like this? I could barely type because my eyes were rolling so far back in my head at my own words.)
I am not a member of the NKVD- *ahem* I mean NKA. They claim to be pro-blade, but in point of fact they have repeatedly sold us out by compromising away our rights to all of you aichmophobes.
@ the OP: Your basic premise is wrong! The right to posess knives and swords IS protected in THe Bill of Rights. The Second Amendment says “….The right to keep and bear ARMS shall not be infringed.” The term ‘Arms’ is not just about muskets, it covers knives and swords as well.
(I feel your pain, Vyk. *spoken in my best WJC pot-smoking POTUS impression* It’s kriffing ludicrous, isn’t it?)
The founding fathers didn’t have Samurai or Ninja swords! Besides, that was just written to ensure that a well regulated militia (with knives) could be maintained! Look, the facts speak for themselves – you are 1000 times more likely to cut yourself with a knife than you are to stab an intruder! Does this sound reasonable to you?
No, it does not sound reasonable to me. Not at all. Those facts are not facts, they are grossly inaccurate data collected from biased polls and selective information gathering.
I am not 1000 times more likely to cut myself than stab an intruder. In fact this sounds like the sort of thing often repeated by someone who has never handled a knife, let alone a sword. Have you ever gone to the dojo for cutting practice? I’m sure you have friends who own knives or swords; maybe you could get one of them to take you along. Try a katana, or if you prefer European, a broadsword. If you’re into something older, there is always the Roman Gladius, and before that the Greek Hoplite sword, and even earlier, the Khopesh from Egypt. If swords are too scary to start with, try a knife. The tanto, which is the knife size companion to the katana is a lovely piece to start out with. Then again, being from Texas you may wish to try a piece of your adopted cultural heritage, the famed Bowie knife. There are also a plethora of knives going back to the dark ages and earlier, some notable ones being the Falchion (France), the Scrimasax (Norse), the Dirk (scottish), and for something exotic, the Ulu from the Inuit of Alaska and Siberia.
Because I have been a responsible blade owner, and trained myself, and practice regularly, I am not more likely to cut myself than to stab an intruder. In fact, no one inolved has to to worry about penetrating trauma at all, mainly because said intruder will be suffering from a severe case of amputation, most likely neck level.
The founding fathers may not have the katana, however, they had cavalry sabers which, being heavier and badly balanced actually do MORE damage than a katana. Are you seriously telling me we should be restricted to older, messier weapons which actually do MORE damage and have a greater chance of hurting an innocent bystander? Are you advocating for MORE violence and death? Are you advocating for less civilised weaponry?
Militia simply means all able bodied persons between 18 and 60. Allowing all able bodied persons between 18 and 60 to own knives and swords is how you maintain that militia.
Next argument? 😉
(OOC: I love you.)
(Thanks. This was fun.)
It’s people like you who go out and stab up a daycare or a movie theater. When will the innocent blood stop flowing, just so you can feel like Rambo with your big scary assault knife?
I’m contacting Michael Moore on this issue.
Assault knife? Assault knife? Look, ANY blade can be an assault knifeby being used in an assault. I think the real problem here is a fear of people being able to cut things for themselves instead of having Big Mama government do it. Even worse (and more likely), a fear that women might be able to successfully defend themselves.
You knife control people would apparently rather see a woman raped and murdered in her own apartment than see her with a knife in her hand, and a dead thug on the floor.
Features like scabbards, and crossguards are necessary safety features. Banning knives and cutting implements with black hilts and ergonomic designs is lunacy and really comes down to a ban on blades which are aesthetically pleasing.
Go ahead, call Michael Moore on this issue. He’ll just discredit your side with his inaccuracies, and make more money for himself; so go right on ahead and call him.
(The scary thing is, just in the last two years there has been talk in Australia and the UK about banning knives over a certain size and even numbering and registering knives. There also was some talk about it here. And for the ‘It can’t happen here’ crowd; that is what they said about guns. It can and will happen, if we don’t draw a line in the sand. In the end it’s not a matter of gun control or knife control. It’s a matter of people control.)
Did he use one of those high capacity assault knives???? BAN THEM, AMERICA!!!
To make it even MORE ridiculous, it was an EXACTO KNIFE. Who the hell is afraid of an Exacto knife?? Why are people so afraid of weapons that someone wasn’t willing to kick him in the face before he stabbed 14 people??
A generation or more of being told to never try to defend yourself, you’ll only make them mad; never argue with a robber, you’ll only make them mad; never fight back, you’ll only make them mad; never do the LEO’s jobs for them, never take the law into your own hands…
I heard this kind of diaper filling all the time growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, heard it even more in the 90’s. . Good thing for me then that I’m probably one of those people with Oppositional Defiance or whatever, and simply figured that claptrap for the kind of victim-disempowerment it is.
What I want to know, is how someone could get meaningfully stabbed by an Exacto knife? The penetration is at best a few centimeters. Not enough damage to really stop someone. Unless this is the secret Special Forces Exacto knife or something. I think Cathryn is right about the doctrine that has been pounded into our heads, or perhaps up our asses.
For many people, those two anatomical features are in close proximity to each other.
You can be killed by a blade 1/4″ long, if the person wielding it slashes you in the right place
One of the 2 kids that helped run the guy down and tackled him prior to the school security catching up was interviewed on Fox News and said that he saw the knife and described it as a regular pocket knife. He made it clear it was not a hobby or Exacto knife. By saying regular knife I’m guessing 2 1/2″ – 3″ then, and getting that jammed into your face is going to make for a bad day, far warse than the 1/2″ – 1″ typical of a hobby knife. The only good thing about a hobby knife vs a regular blade is that a hobby knife is more like a scalpel and leaves cleaner cuts which heal faster and with less scarring typically. I applaud the gentlemen that ran after this scum instead of away like the majority did, they certainly took a brave risk but they did get the guy to the ground before school security could get there.
Something that might be interesting reading…http://www.ammoland.com/2013/04/new-york-gun-confiscation-underway/#axzz2Q5AFtz6u
Hopefully this link to the ammoland story about gun CONFISCATION taking place in NY as we speak won’t get blocked.
I have an assault rock..
Does it have a bayonet mount? (Because that would be AWESOME.)
My friend, here is your bayonet-mount assault rock. For the MOTHERLAND!
…and the link. http://rohvannyn.deviantart.com/art/Russian-Rock-364818135?ga_submit_new=10%253A1365660964
IS BEST ROCK!
Thank you. That was awesome.
Welcome… then I realized that a rock mounted with a bayonet was probably meant. I could make that too.
also, the comment strings generated by this post are making my morning.
