Elle Arrives
Mar25
Oh my, that second panel was fun to draw. Based on the activities of *cough* um, friends of ours. When we introduce friends to our fellow goth/industrial/freak social crew, they’re often a little taken aback by just how… friendly people can be. Mick’s in for one hell of a ride.
A blast from the past! RIP, Peter.
WooHoo site code unbroken… and some Type O to boot! Rock on! Any chance of some KMFDM down the road?
Most certainly. Also likely Angels On Acid, Combichrist, 5FDP, Deathboy, Faderhead, etc.
Rock the hell on!
Possibly my favorite song on my favorite Type O album, at that.
Friend of mine used to refer to the band as “Copy Edited”. You know, because they’re Typo-Negative. 😀
BOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I like it!
*Ernie-laugh*
…I want a girlfriend.
Dude, I want that shirt! Is it available in the real world anywhere?
Seconded. Jeph Jacques of Questionable Content has turned several t-shirts from the comic into real-life merch based on fan interest. J., I’d definitely buy one of those if you did that.
Also, this reminds me of Jack’s first visit to a goth club in Flem.
God, I cringe looking at that. That strip initially went up almost 15 years ago, back when I was drawing with a ball mouse (because scanners were WAY out of my pay range), and it was hosted on a Geocities site.
Sorry if I dredged up unpleasant memories for you. FWIW I enjoyed the hell out of that run of Flem. Thank you.
Heh. Nah, nothing unpleasant. I just keep forgetting that site is even still out there. Looking at those strips reminds me of myself, about 80 lbs thinner, and really, really young and dumb. But it was a lot of fun back then, when “webcomic” wasn’t a word yet, and we were all just trying various new shit to get our stuff noticed.
Workin’ on getting it made in time for A-Kon.
Just noticed the shirt. I would wear that.
Hey, just noticed. Alex is referred to as “Elle” in the comic, but the title is “Ella Arrives”. Are Zera and Zulu shortening “Ella” to “Elle” out of familiarity, or is the title a typo?
(I swear this isn’t meant as a reference to the joke I posted above.)
Whoops! Typo while I was trying to fix site.
I was rather sad to hear of his passing. Enjoyed the band’s work and had been looking forward to possible new material since he’d gotten out of rehab and such.
Of course now I watch the videos and I keep thinking “Jeezus, could he look more like Nathan Explosion?” and then I /facepalm the shit out of myself… 😉
I got to see them live twice. Type O Neg was, and still is, one of my fave goth bands, for all the schlock metal they added to their sound. I was genuinely saddened by his death. Peter was an original, and a very unique musician.
Ray McKelvey, died March 24, 2013, known as Stevie Ray Stiletto of Stevie Stiletto and the Switchblades a 1980’s Punk Rock Group. Stevie Stiletto and the Switchblades spent the 80’s opening for and touring with some of the biggest names in punk and metal: The Ramones, the Dead Kennedys, Motorhead, Megadeth, Bad Brains, Iggy Pop, Circle Jerks, the Flaming Lips, G.G. Allin, the Descendents and a host of others.
Don’t know if he means much to you youngsters, but it was my first exposure to Punk was his band opening at a concert.
FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU–
I’m getting tired of the rockers I grew up to dying of old age. They gotta quit that shit.
I only got to see them at The Bomb Factory in ’96. They were opening for Danzig. Never did see Danzig that night…. got pissed off and left after Type O had been off stage for almost an hour.
