Ironic, am actually going to Bemidji this weekend
Yeah, fuck Failbook. I’ve deactivated my account, not that I ever used it, and told them exactly why.
“Kids” buying guns “on facebook”?
Looks to me like an ad for a gun available at a pawn shop. Which, in order to transact business in guns, would have to be an FFL. Which would thus have to do NICS checks, and wouldn’t sell to kids.
The most noteworthy thing about it isn’t that it’s an ad for a gun, it’s that it’s an ad posted by a user (as opposed to a paying advertiser). Which is probably the real reason facebook doesn’t want it.
And, um, Facebook does such a good job of age-checking all of those 11-year-olds who have accounts today, right? And the sexual predators? And all the “facts” anyone puts in their Facebook profile are verified and accurate, right?
This is nothing but a gigantic publicity stunt.
Re: FB– Look for Mothers Demanding Action to claim it as one of their victories.
No Mosin challenge? The horror, the horror.
From that twat-waffle Sawyer and the voice-over:
“…number of illegal guns sold online….”
What the hell does that mean, and where is the problem? What guns are illegal, but being sold, and how are internet meets illegal or dangerous if all applicable state and federal laws are followed?
“…some of them weapons bought by children….”
One sale to a 15-year-old as evidence? Not exactly a trend. Fear your drive to school more, you’re far more likely to be injured in a resulting car crash.
“…in an Arizona fast-food parking lot… no background check, no questions asked…”
1. I want to see the entire, unedited video of that. (Explosives on gas-tanks, your network’s credibility is suspect.)
2. Not illegal in any way in Arizona.
“…giving potentially easy access to juveniles and criminals…”
Oh, POTENTIAL access? So, you can’t prove a trend of a causation, so you move on to insinuation and fear-mongering? Got it…..
“…block gun-sale posts to users 18 and under…”
Riiiiiiiiigghhhtt…. Because no-one ever lies about their age on FaceBook, and there are very strict enforcement mechanismssssss…… bwaahahahahahahahahahahaha!!
“…remove posts promoting sales with no background checks….”
Oh, so push a political agenda with no violations of law? Got that too…..
“…additional restrictions might save lives….”
Might. Just like every other tried and failed restriction, I’m sure…..
Hell, I WISH I could find a Saiga AK for $500…..
““…giving potentially easy access to juveniles and criminals…”
Oh, POTENTIAL access? So, you can’t prove a trend of a causation, so you move on to insinuation and fear-mongering? Got it…..”
Don’t listen to the clip anyways, it’s being narrated by a potential prostitute.
I see what you did there.
Heh…..
The funny thing is, most (and I do mean MOST) people on FB looking to buy guns go apesh!t over making private/face-to-face sales legal. The groups I’m in are highly moderated, and any hint of trying to bypass laws gets you a permanent boot out of the group. Everyone does a good job of CYA when it comes to private sales via FB. But in all honesty, more than 50% of the posts I see are guys who are dealers, and clearly state that a 4473 applies to any guns they are advertising.
And no 600-yard Mosin challenge? What kind of competition is this, anyway?
Actually, the terms of the NDA Alex just imposed on Mick are prolly a lot stronger than Alex’ NDA.
