Alex gets off the pot!
I don’t know Stoya, although lord knows I wish I did. But I’ve had drinks with Ela a handful of times at Comic Con. She’s a very intelligent, lovely, chatty girl. Has a badass shoulder tat, and always brings the nerd cred. I believe the term is “adorkable.” I like hanging out with her. Hence her inclusion in this strip.
By the way, if you haven’t seen her porn videos… yep. It’s hot.
Anyhoo. I promise the next few weeks will be more gun-centric. Also, I’m getting a frivolous tattoo tonight. Cheap, small, and easy. Just like me!
Maybe NSFW a bit:

Query, is it awkward chatting to someone you find interesting, fun, basically the startings of a friendship who’ve you’ve seen porn of?
I’ve never been in that situation but… I just wonder, does it just feel a bit weird?
It’s always weird meeting someone you know about, when they have never met you. There are degrees though. Friend of a friend, movie star… I found it weird to know someone, and become friends, and then after a couple of years they mention they did porn. BUT the weird part is when you are surfing porn, and see a tattoo… and then recognize the person… and then the person they are with…
Also weird mentioning it to a another friend who then tells you they were running the lights that day… You start to think everyone is doing it.

Heh. This is how Nathaniel Johnstone (former Abney Park guitarist) and I met. No, not porn. I’d been a fan of AP for years, and found out they were going to be guests at A-Kon a few years back, where we always have a table. I was ecstatic – this band has been on my playlists for almost a decade, I love their work.
When I approached their table and introduced myself, Nathan about shat himself, as he was a fan of Two Lumps. We’ve become very good friends since then.
As for the tattoo recognition thing, that’s exactly how I discovered Ela was a porn actress. I’d met her twice at Comic Con, and just knew her as a cool person with a nifty tat. She has the Dewey Decimal # for the first Harry Potter book on her shoulders. About two years after we first met, I was surfing porn on the internet and HOLY SHIT.
Nope. Not really. I’ve known various adult entertainers for the last couple decades. They’re just people. The person in the videos is not them, not their actual personality. That’s them acting. That’s them putting on a show.
Musicians are the same way. My ex used to cater the meals at a venue. I met many “rock stars” who were always looked at as just about gods, and beat them at dominoes, or lost big time against them at chess. I’ve also been one of those musicians that was up on stage and people thought I was the kind of person who would bite kitten heads off so I could drink their blood. In reality, I love animals. I had people who believed I was a massive druggie, and psychopath… I don’t do drugs, in fact I usually don’t get the prescriptions for vicodin filled, because I can usually just deal with the pain rather than take drugs for it(note I did say USUALLY).
I had one rather big musician come to one of our shows the night of his show. We were playing downtown a couple blocks away from their venue. We saw him come in during our show, and I told our singer NOT to mention it. After our set, he came up and asked about us, and got our CD. When he asked us to sign it, we did. He asked us why we didn’t mention he came in. I said, “I figured you wanted to be able to enjoy a night of being a regular Joe for a bit.”
Curiosity is killing me. Who was it?
Stoya, awesome pick. My favorite shoot of her, when she posed as Gaiman’s Death for Dr Sketchy. And we share birthdays, just a few *cough* years apart.
Time to get back on that horse and ride…
So I’m clear, were you referring to the TV show, or porn? The metaphor seems to support the latter better…
Take your pick… π
Alex will crush it, whichever she does.
No comments yet about the bill? My jaw was on the floor. I’ve seen condoms and even a latex glove or two before (the glove was in some more…. eccentric stuff), but mandatory? Including dental dams? I get that we want to teach safe sex, but when porn becomes a health class teaching aid, I’ll go back to junior high.
I think the argument that latex (or a latex-free variant for those with an allergy) is not as smooth as skin on certain sensitive ares of the body is a poor one. Plenty of people in this world have lots of great sex and use condoms every time, and a few of them even have the stamina required of a porn shoot. Even if that were not the case for a given actor, personal lubrication is still in existence.
I’m still firmly against this mandate, this may just be my preference, but I think seeing a condom in porn is a turn-off. I think condoms are great, I happily use them whenever conscience dictates and I’m being true to myself when I say that it doesn’t give me one bit of pause when I do. I’d rather be safe than sorry and, fer fuck’s sake, you’re getting laid. I can think of no better reason to be willing to compromise on something that will end up being beneficial for both parties. But it’s a bit of a buzzkill to see one in my fantasy. This is my imagination, I’m not here to let realities like VD or public nudity laws get in the way.
I also find it hard to believe that there are 200 people in the porn industry. I’ve probably seen more than 200 women get fucked on the internet in an average month.
This is why I hate modern political media. I’m not attracted to a side if I can see through the bullshit easily, and both sides have been churning out piss-poor propaganda the past five or so years. The fact of forcing prophylactics on porn stars is quite shocking enough, and Ela certainly brings intelligent presentation with an accomplished resume to the table. I’m on the wrong coast, but I hope this bill dies.

The point was that the porn industry isn’t the real world. How many takes of each shot, and how many shoots in a day, compared to the 5 minutes of pump and done by the likes of Mike & Margret McSlap’n’Tickle? It might sound a bit iffy as a reason to the layman, but unless your in the porn industry chaffing your vagina how could you really comment?
