Dammit, who told about the rabbits?! Oh, I bet it was the toaster! I’ve had it with that lying instrument of wire and crumbs. Grr, that’s it! No more strudel!
Oh, I agree that violent video games are bad! I mean, just look at what message we are sending the masses by allowing such trash that advocates throwing birds at pigs! Someone might actually do it! Why, why isn’t anyone thinking of the children?
…pft, ha-ha, couldn’t type any of that with a straight face. But seriously, it is a crazy cyclone of blame-storming. A lot of hurt feelings get caught up in it, and very little useful gets accomplished. Other than ratings. And obscuring troubling developments like the renewal of FISA and NDAA, among others. Oh, and keeping the ruling class in power. Really, if a firearms ban does go through, it would just be icing on the cake.
The truth is, the problem itself is eternal and insoluble. The best approximation to a solution is to empower the victims on the scene to “solve” each individual eruption of the problem at the moment it erupts. Nothing else is rational.
Doing good except for the dream last night where someone kicked in my front door and I didn’t have my gun so I could shoot their ass. I had to fight them and was trying to whoop their ass when my wife woke me up because I was yelling and cursing in my sleep.
I have to say that the central problem, in my opinion, IS politics. They take away funding for mental hospitals, so coocoos roam the streets as homeless or parents can’t afford to get their sociopathic offspring the help they need. The result: they find someone else’s guns, or buy their own, and kill people, thus giving politicians an excuse to take guns away from law-abiding citizens.
Do I know that solution to this problem? Unfortunately, not a damn clue.
See, that is exactly the problem. We had a _very_ good mental health setup in Sweden. But then some politicos decided that money had to be saved, and places got shut down and programs scrapped. Almost right away we saw an increase in violent crimes commited by unstable individuals. And there was this big debate on what was causing this, right up untill one well known politician got stabbed to death.
Actually, from what I understand, mental health programs and asylums were shut down after a mix of a big blockbuster, and an expose on a single asylum that basically tortured the people who were in it. Not all asylums were horrible places, but at least one was so in true political fashion, they shut them all down because one had a group of massive assholes running it. Basically the same reason why they banned drugs and are attempting to ban guns. Some asshole does something either really stupid or really evil and a bunch of people die so they try to ban it to keep the next asshole from doing it.
By the way, any actual evidence that Wayne Lapierre is a racist? I am not an NRA member and do not know what he might have said to justify his being portrayed as a crypto-Klansman. If he had said something along the lines of “We don’t need gun control, what we need is ship these darkies back to Africa.” I have a feeling that I would have heard about. The New York Times would have reported it on the front page under a banner headline and CNN done an hour long special on it, I am sure.
Lack such justification, it looks like you chose to throw a gratuitous smear.
First off… I call DiFi a (and I quote) “demon from hell,” and you make no mention of it. I have even done an entire strip painting her to be a horrible, fucked up monster that eats the livers of children, that didn’t bother you. But for some reason this did, and you want to jump to the defense of the NRA even though “you’re not a member?” Right.
I was a card-carrying NRA member from 1999, and canceled my membership after some of the ridiculous smears they were throwing around in 2007. Board members were putting out articles in firearms magazines about how abortion is evil, black people are scary (especially that Obammer fella), the worst places to live in America have too many darkies, and Mexicans were essentially waging war on America. They really got offensive on some of their bullshit. I decided to get out of that membership, and I do not regret it. They essentially got too racist and right-wing for me. Yes, I get it, they have to play it up to their best prospective client base, but I’m neither afraid of brown people, nor am I a Christian who suffers delusions of persecution. I’m a fucking gun owner. I’m an Atheist, Moderate Liberal, Pro-Abortion, Anti-Bible gun owner. For six years, I had no problem with their stance – but it has since evolved into something ugly.
If you want to see about LaPierre, google “South Brooklyn”. Oh those scary nigras in their scary faraway mythical crime lands, abooga booga booga.
OK, first off, I don’t object to you caricaturing Diane Feinstein as a demon from hell because it is obvious hyperbole. No one reading the strip is going to think she actually Satan’s great aunt. It is clear that you mean she is a slimy, vicious hypocrite who is a menace to our Constitutional liberties (a point on which I am in total agreement with you by the way).
On the other hand, calling someone a racist is saying that they are something that is evil and real not hyperbole or obvious exaggeration. It is the difference between, say, my trying to insult you by saying you are a sewer dwelling vampire with a nose picking fetish versus my asserting in a public forum that you are a police informer or a child molester (for those having a problem with reading comprehension, I am not asserting any of the above about the honorable Mr. Grant, I am simply using hypothetical examples to illustrate my arguement).
Moreover, trying to discredit someone by labeling him a racist has become such a routine rhetorical ploy by those, like yourself, on the left that it has come to suffer from “The Boy Who Cried Wolf” problem. Which is a pity because, just as the boy found there were still wolves out there, there are still racists.
And, finally, to respond to your implication that I am a liar, I am not now and never have been a member of the NRA. I don’t know much about the organization or its internal politics. I do know that it is regarded by the left as a modern American version of the Waffen-SS. That is why I reacted skeptically to your labelling LaPierre as a bigot.
I will conclude this “frank exchange of views” (as it used to be called in diplomatic circles) by repeating what I said in an earlier comment: I think you are producing a couple of damn good comic strips and hope you will keep it up.
I haven’t really seen much about the games, mostly mental health and guards in school. also most gun crimes are committed by blacks in the inner city. that’s not racism, that is the way it is. also see flash mobs (the criminal type). I would take LaPierre’s “racist” side before Feinstein’s side that fucks everyone but the government and the criminals over. most of the video games stuff is from ass pained old people bitching, I play horrible violent games regularly, and own plenty of high capacity assaulting clips for my fully semi auto AR 47, yet I have never hurt anything with any of my guns.
last but not least, not sure why you call him a shill, he is the VP… he is obviously payed by that organization that is helping protect our gun rights, and if you dont acknowledge that I dont even know what to say, I know they fucked up in the past but they have recently given zero tolerance and are fighting legislation on many fronts. thankfully the tide was turning towards gun rights before the sandy hook shit happend, and we can only hope the introduced legislation gets shit on and DiFi jumps in front of traffic or something after its defeat lol.
“I would take LaPierreās āracistā side before Feinsteinās side that fucks everyone ”
There’s the problem: I refuse to take either “side”. It’s a false dichotomy. Feinstein is a fucking awful bag of shit, and the NRA is a business that makes money by acting like they give a shit about your rights. Here’s the scoop: the NRA does not give a fuck about gun rights. Not as an entity, certainly not as people on their board of directors. The NRA is a business. Their business model is to use money to lobby for gun rights in Washington. If they could make better money lobbying to fuck you and me over, you better believe they would. If they could drop gun rights as a cause, and instead make twice as much money lobbying to protect the 5th amendment, they’d drop this crusade like a hot fucking rock and let our asses swing in the wind.
but they havent done that yet, therefore I will choose the group that has the money and resources and is currently lobbying to protect the second amendment. if they turn away from the 2nd or go back to compromising like they used to do in the 19XX’s then I will drop their asses, but they have done a good job of not backing down recently and have won many political and court battles.
*gigglesnort* And, as of recent updates there is an addition to this loop: “THE PROBLEM IS NOT ALLOWING TEACHERS TO ARM THEMSELVES WHILE IN SCHOOL!”
Yes, because THAT won’t create more people taking their children out of school, not to mention the teachers that won’t even TOUCH a gun because “people don’t kill people, guns grow legs and shoot people” and blah dee blahh.
I swear I heard an actual teacher say this.
that picture does feintein’s coontacular face to much credit. Should be less “Mephistopheles” and more “crypt keeper”. š

Just to be clear, you do realize that rational (or logical or factual) has nothing to do with the issue on any side.
And that is exactly the problem.
Hmmmmmmm, butter…
So, if I hear you right, Video games cause guns and guns cause moth fairies! Man that clears up so much.
Doing good except for the dream last night where someone kicked in my front door and I didn’t have my gun so I could shoot their ass. I had to fight them and was trying to whoop their ass when my wife woke me up because I was yelling and cursing in my sleep.
Why am I hearing the voice of “LaPierre” in Hank Hill’s voice?
Naturally, I spot the redundancy *right after* I hit Post Comment…

Fuck him and fuck the NRA.
You mean the line “Looters ran wild in South Brooklyn”?
Yeah, real racist….
That’s seriously your only reply?
Considering you were so vague about the articles, how could I check in on them?
If you want an in depth analysis, I would need some examples to examine and go from there.
