YES MORE WITH THE RUSSIAN TALKING, KOMRADES.
Anyone who’s gotten goofy about guns in front of an unexpected audience knows Mick’s pain here. Gun people have a lingo that non-shooters don’t get – as is the case with any hobby with a large audience.
One last video about the Mosin:
Couple years ago, I was down at one of our local ranges. I was on the pistol line with a few others. First rifle bench next to us was a young lady in her early 20s. She ran two boxes of ammo through an M44 during one shooting period. We all decided that she got the “biggest pair” award for the day.
My next goal after I get my Savage in .338 Lapua finalized is trying to find a PEM 91/30 to go with my PU scope version. Love these damn guns for the simplicity lol.
And in Panel 4… Yes, I’ve done this. Shortly after I picked up the barrel and bolt for the Remington 511 I was building. I was like a kid on Christmas it was the first gun I’d really “built” was given the receiver but had to go out and get everything else and build her up. Finally she was done and I was down in the workshop cycling and giving her the last dry run before range test in the AM, and from what as told to me by my (now ex) significant other “You’re down here giggling like a schoolgirl, you seriously need help”
I know Mick’s pain very well, actually. I’m a highschooler who likes anime……In the middle of Texas. -_-
F
Just to point out: There’s a HUGE Anime scene in many parts of Texas. Funimation has offices near Dallas, and A-Kon is the biggest anime convention in the USA – we’ve been guests there for the last 6 years, as well as Animefest, in September. There are also other cons we don’t normally do, but I know they have some good turnout: San Japan, Yulecon, etc.
Come see us at one of ’em!
True, I do have a lot of fun at the cons, and I’m right near Funimation, but I’m talking about school. -_-
By the way, hope to see you again next year. I was that guy with his mother and sister at A-Fest, the ones who bought those shirts. Yes, it sounds vague, I know. I got the TOO MUCH COFEE! shirt.
Heh. We’d like to see you again! I remember you. You were wearing shoes! And you had skin, and hair! And if I remember correctly, you were mammalian!
I kid. But yeah, you’d have to be a lot more specific.
I figured. I was tall, brown hair, large build. It was Saturday at A-Fest. You were working on this site, and showed us the layout of it. Well, Miss Mel did. I really don’t think you’ll remember me though. Anyway, you guys are great, and I love your comics. Keep doing what you do. =D
I may not get the gun lingo but I find the ALL MUST TALK RUSSIAN NOW endlessly amusing. 🙂
cheers,
Phil
REDHEAD IS MORE DANGEROUS THAN BEST RIFLE
Brother, you ain’t lying……
At least with my AK, I’ve got a tacticool patch to wear! 😉
I’ve been looking for a new deer rifle for a while now, but I suddenly find myself wanting a Mosin rather than a Model 70…
Apparently many, many hunters still take deer every year with Mosins.
Dunno bout dear but it’s a freaking amazing pigging rifle. Hit the pig in the chest and that big old bullet will go all the way through. Hit in the head and you;ll at least crack the skull. Always a toss up when vermin hunting between the SMLE* an the mosin.
The Russians have been getting their mosins on lately too: http://tinyurl.com/a4nvxtc
Some PPSh’s too. Nice pictures
Bayonets stowed? Weak sauce! 🙂
I’m more concerned with the fact that the Mosin’s didn’t seem to have any triggers :/
“Russian soldiers don historic uniforms and march through the Red Square to mark 1941 parade of soldiers on their way to fight the Nazis”
Damn, that’s actually a pretty cool thing to do. About the only thing the US re-enacts is the civil war… (except for my Grandfather, where it’s WWII every day… “whut the hell you eyeballin’ my Enfield for!? you want another broken arm, boy?!”)
There’s a few Rev War and 1600s reenactors around, too. If you’re in Virginia in mid-March, take a look at Military Through the Ages, at Jamestown Settlement. It’s a timeline event that goes from Rome to Vietnam.
Talking to people across the country, I’ve found that reenactments (or Living History, if you will) vary depending on the area. As Dex points out, there are a lot of Rev reenactors around back East. I live in the Pacific Northwest, so up here the historical focus is all about the fur trade era. We have lots of fur-trade rendezvousers (rondyvooers) to choose from, but not so many from other eras.
Come to think on it, aren’t there people across the country who reenact the world wars and Vietnam? I initially questioned this on grounds of taste, but some research revealed that the very first Gettysburg reenactment was veterans of it. So I suppose it’s tradition.
HAHAHAHA
This is good
Moose and sqvirrel are laugh at you.
Actually there’s medieval all the way up through Viet Nam being re-enacted in the US. Every August, the National Civil War Museum in Harrisburg PA does a “timeline” event, where reenactors from all periods are welcome.
