I really wish a place like this existed in Dallas. We have a damn good goth/industrial scene here, and many of us freaks love coffee. I sense a business idea. If you take advantage of it, I just want 5% of the net profit. Cash only, small bills, please.
edit: As just an aside, today marks both the 10th anniversary of Two Lumps and the 7th anniversary of our marriage. Both are still going strong. Woot!
Hi there!
OMG! I have been wanting to do this since like 1998! I wanted to start a coffee shop called Cafe Transylvania with goth-themed coffees and creepy books lining the shelves for people to read. I’d drawn up plans and everything, but then someone reminded me that i know nothing about running a business and no start-up cash and that I don’t even like coffee. 🙁
It did, in Deep Ellum, in the ninties. I forget what it was called, but we all liked it. They had a little wooden band-stand out back, and I thing Robert Smith played there once. They had a milkshake with seven shots espresso, which they claimed had so much caffiene that it sould wire the electric company.
Reminds me of when someone asked if they’d be able to find me at GenCon. I said, “Sure, just look for the overweight guy with a pony tail, wearing a black t-shirt with a sarcastic comment on it.”
@JLGrant – In Dallas is better than Houston, if I give you 5% and free coffee do you agree to draw Caricatures for cash one night a week at the place?
@Lizard – I remember you from Gencon you were wearing those shoes. 😉
For 5% I’ll draw three times a week.
I have found in these circumstances, that asking about the odd things they are into, works better than what they look like. Describing tattoos in detail sometimes works, hair color and style never…
“Punk girl with a mohawk, full sleeve, and cheek piercings.” vs. “The girl that likes to sing sea shanties on car trips.”
Congratulations on your double anniversary! May you celebrate many more happy returns of the day.
Happy anniversary for both strip. Love both of them.
Congrats on both! With goth and coffee shop humor, I’m now feeling a Foamy jones coming on. Which brings up another thought. Any chance of a flash animation of either Twolumps or Failure to Fire in the future?
Congrats on both the marriage and Two Lumps!
WOOOT! congratz on the marriage and web comix!!!keep doing what you love and loving who you do !!!
Sorry it’s not near you, but Once Upon A Time an English girl and her fez-wearing gent started up a little place called Wicked Grounds in San Francisco for the late-night coffee crew that’s just a little bit different. English girl is long since gone, but her ex-gent still runs the place and it’s heartily beloved by the community. You should Google it, it’s fairly good proof that Weird Coffee Can Work (even if it did have to get revived from the dead once). Also if you’re ever in SF you should visit it. Just sayin’.
Also also, happy anniversaries!
